Why Yoga Does the Body and Soul Good


And just like that, the kids are back in school and we are almost done with August. We hope that you have been having a fun and healthy summer. As you have probably noticed, we have been busy at the club. We have been adding more classes, programs, and equipment. Speaking of classes, have you tried one of our yoga classes yet? If not, we wrote a little article as to why yoga could be the game-changer you need in your life. Enjoy! So let's get into it, let’s talk yoga! Better yet, let’s talk hot yoga! In case you haven’t heard, we have one of the hottest hot yoga facilities in San Jose (pun intended). We know that most people have an idea what yoga is but not everyone is familiar with hot yoga AKA Bikram Yoga. Well, we’re here to keep you in the know. We’re also here to encourage you to come to try one of the classes because we know that you’ll fall in love with hot yoga. So, what is there to know? Let’s start by saying this, hot yoga is not easy. Essentially you are doing yoga in a room where temperatures are in the 100 degrees Fahrenheit range. Sounds like only masochists would go for something like that right? Well, the benefits are truly worth the effort. And just like anything else; the more you do it, the better you get at it. After three classes or so, it’s safe to say you’ll be a Yogi (Yoga enthusiast). So, what are the benefits? The list is quite long so we’ll only cover a few. Let’s start with flexibility. Hot Yoga is probably the fastest way to gain more flexibility and range in motion. The heat helps loosen the muscles so you could reach new limits in your flexibility (pun intended again). Next, let’s go with weight loss. Expect to sweat a lot! Yoga without the heat is a real workout, the heat makes it more intense. Have stress? Hot Yoga is the ultimate solution for reducing stress and tension. Somewhere between the breathing and the posing, your stress will magically disappear. And lastly, hot yoga will help you increase your lung capacity and tolerate heat better. So now that we motivated you to try a class, let us help you prepare. If you have never done yoga before it might be a good idea to try one of our regular classes before jumping into the heated class. Drink tons of water. We recommend hydrating before the class and during. Bring comfortable clothes, you’ll be drenched in sweat, plan accordingly. Consult your doctor. If you are pregnant or have a heart condition it would be best to consult your physician before trying hot yoga. Lastly, plan to stay the entire class. It’s common courtesy to stay the entire time, the instructor and students will greatly appreciate you sticking it through (class durations vary, check the schedule or ask the instructor for more info).
